This collection is a deeply personal one. After over 15 years of designing bespoke furniture and lighting for private clients, it feels incredibly special to share The Contemporary Furniture & Lighting Collection as part of Laura Hammett Living. It’s a natural evolution of my design journey - rooted in the same values of timelessness, craftsmanship, and quiet refinement.
The inspiration for this collection came from an apartment within The Peninsula London, one of my favourite residential projects. I wanted to capture the essence of refined contemporary living, creating pieces that feel both calm and captivating. Simplicity is at the heart of the design language, but it’s layered with detail, inviting you to come closer and experience the materials, the craftsmanship and the balance of each silhouette.
While our Modern Heritage Collection celebrates classic detailing reimagined for modern homes, this collection expresses a more architectural, sculptural sensibility. Clean lines and simple forms allow the materials to take centre stage - nothing is over-designed, yet everything is considered.
Materiality has been at the forefront of my creative process. Many of our case goods combine marble, timber and metal in a single piece, bringing together contrasting textures in a way that feels both cohesive and elegant. The upholstery pieces are all handcrafted using kiln-dried, solid beech and hardwood frames, chosen for their durability and comfort. I love layering fabrics to add subtle depth - soft velvets paired with tonal weaves or linens, always in a palette that feels timeless.
Lighting has also been an area of real focus. I’ve worked with beautiful materials like alabaster, which has a unique ability to diffuse light and create a warm, natural glow. Each design is intended to feel quietly sculptural - adding atmosphere without overwhelming a space.
My intention with this collection was to create pieces that don’t just sit beautifully within a space, but also endure - both physically and stylistically. I’ve always believed that good design should stand the test of time and that’s what I hope these pieces will do in your home.
Releasing this collection under Laura Hammett Living is a milestone that means a great deal to me. It reflects the layered, understated luxury I’ve always been drawn to and I’m so pleased to now be able to share it with you.
