For me, colour and texture are the very foundations of a home. They influence mood, light, and how a space feels. After decades of designing interiors, I noticed a recurring challenge: finding high quality paints and wallpapers that felt truly refined, beautifully nuanced, and durable enough for everyday life. This was the spark that led to creating the Laura Hammett Living Paint and Wallpaper Collections, a range conceived out of a desire for timeless beauty and exceptional performance.
When we set out to develop the LHL paint collection, I was determined that it had to be as functional as it was beautiful. That meant investing in formulations that deliver lasting results, whether in a high-traffic living room, a kitchen where messes are inevitable, or a child’s bedroom that sees everyday wear.
Our paints are British-crafted, using premium pigments and carefully considered ingredients. The Immaculate Matt Emulsion is both washable and low-sheen, absorbing light while resisting scuffs, stains, and the everyday marks that life throws at your walls. This makes it ideal for spaces like hallways, dining rooms, and family rooms.
Traditionally, durability in paint comes at the expense of appearance, relying on higher sheen levels to achieve wipeability. Our formulation challenges this convention, delivering a finish that is fully cleanable while maintaining an exceptionally low sheen of <5%. The result is a rare balance of practicality and elegance - a refined, chalk-matt surface that feels quietly luxurious and is seldom found in high-street paint ranges.
For woodwork, metal frames, or cabinetry where durability and a soft sheen matter, our Water-based Matt Eggshell finish offers a sublimely strong surface that’s easy to clean and sustained through daily use. This same balance of performance and elegance underpins the way our colour palette was developed. Through countless tests, each shade was refined to deliver subtle tonal variation and lasting harmony. Shades like Perfect White, Linen Mist, Linen Light and Linen Mid create a calm, considered backdrop that enhances both natural and artificial light. Earthier families such as Fawn, alongside deeper tones like Smoke Light and Storm Deep, introduce depth without heaviness, while softer hues including Sage Mid and Blush Tint bring a quiet, grounded warmth to a space.
It was this pursuit of tonal cohesion that naturally led us to wallpaper. My strong belief is that wallpaper can transform a room, but it must withstand life as much as it enhances it. Our wallpaper designs, Jute, Linear, and Sable, are conceived as textural extensions of the paint collection, offering an additional layer of interest without disrupting the overall calm of an interior. Durable and thoughtfully crafted, each design is offered in colourways such as Linen, Fawn, Smoke Deep, and Storm Deep, ensuring seamless pairing with our paints and allowing transitions between surfaces to feel effortless and refined.
