We were delighted to unveil one of our most significant full-scale projects to date: the complete interior architectural design and furnishing of a 10,250 sq ft former Victorian country lodge, set within more than 1,000 acres of private parkland in the heart of rural Yorkshire.
Reimagined as a warm yet refined contemporary country home, the estate overlooks rolling grounds, ancient woodland and a private lake with its own boathouse, elements that shaped our design narrative from the outset.

Our aim was to create a seamless dialogue between interior and landscape. Natural light, organic textures and timeless detailing blend with refined modernity, allowing the extraordinary setting to remain central to the experience of the home. Throughout the project we introduced new furniture and lighting designs from our Laura Hammett Living Modern Heritage collection, pieces I personally designed in response to this house.
The homeowners are a couple with adult children and young grandchildren who visit often. From our earliest conversations, it was clear they wanted the home to feel classic with subtle contemporary notes, traditional design principles interpreted in a more modern way, which is very much our studio’s signature.
The clients placed immense trust in us and gave us creative freedom throughout the process. This allowed us to develop new Laura Hammett Living pieces inspired directly by the project, including the Audelia chandelier, a nature-inspired design featuring antique brass leaves and branches that echo the surrounding woodland.
We also adapted existing designs to suit the different spaces throughout the home. Elevated interpretations of our Lupton and Lawton sofas were created for the formal reception rooms with elegant detailing such as fringing and trims, while more relaxed versions were developed for the TV room with a softer skirted base.
Light, flow and entertaining were central to the brief. The clients wanted the home to feel bright and uplifting, while offering a variety of spaces for both formal entertaining and relaxed family living.
The journey through the home begins in the impressive double-height entryway, designed to create a dramatic sense of arrival while celebrating the lodge’s Victorian heritage.
A sweeping Portland Stone staircase with ornate bronze balustrades forms the sculptural centrepiece, accompanied by twin bespoke oak-leaf pendants. In the secondary entrance hall, we restored the original stone fireplace and archway, allowing the historic character of the property to remain an integral part of the design.

At the centre of the home lies the open-plan kitchen, dining and living space — the true social heart of the estate. Expansive skylights and glazing on all sides flood the room with natural light while maintaining strong visual connections to the surrounding landscape.
The kitchen is layered in soft neutrals, with polished Calacatta Borghini marble countertops and bespoke cabinetry creating a calm contemporary aesthetic. A trio of hanging glass Estate Pendants casts a soft glow above the island.
Arches, which appear as a recurring motif throughout the house, soften the architecture, while a porcelain tile floor that mimics timber provides durability for everyday family life. A large bespoke dining table with an open-grained wood top and sculptural stone base anchors the room.
At the far end, a relaxed living area faces views across the rolling hills and woodland beyond. The television is concealed behind antique-brass framed fabric sliding doors, ensuring the joinery and styling remain the focus when not in use.
Hidden beyond the kitchen lies the pantry, a refined interpretation of the traditional farmhouse larder. Carrara marble countertops, chequered Nero Marquina and Carrara marble flooring and pale oak cabinetry create a space that feels both practical and elevated.

The boot room balances functionality with understated luxury. Slate-blue bespoke joinery, polished Catania Quartz worktops and Portland Stone flooring echo the tones of the surrounding landscape, while bench seating and concealed storage allow the space to work beautifully behind the scenes.
The formal drawing room celebrates English heritage design interpreted through a contemporary lens. An architectural turret offered a unique opportunity to create a personal focal point, where we placed an easel displaying the clients’ wedding photobook.
Two antique crystal chandeliers anchor the room, which is arranged into zones for conversation, reading and games. The Halton Games Table sits within four Caspian Armchairs, creating an intimate setting for quiet moments.
The formal dining room provides one of the most striking spaces within the house, enveloped in hand-painted chinoiserie wallpaper by de Gournay. The mural’s botanical motifs harmonise beautifully with our Audelia pendant, creating the feeling of dining within an English cottage garden.
In contrast, the media snug offers a cocooning retreat. Layered neutrals, subtle green accents, burl walnut finishes and warm European oak joinery create a sense of quiet luxury. The space is anchored by the Selena Pendant, adding a soft sculptural glow above the seating area.
The principal bedroom was designed as a tranquil sanctuary overlooking the woodland beyond. Warm neutrals and tactile fabrics create understated luxury, centred around a bespoke architectural headboard panel framed in antique brass trim.
At the base of the bed, our fringed Belcourt Bench adds softness, while the heritage Grayson Pendant and hand-blown glass Malik Table Lamps provide warm ambient lighting.
Her bathroom is a spa-like retreat wrapped in Calacatta Oro marble with pearlised lacquer joinery and integrated lighting. Within the turret, a marble-clad bath sits beside a bespoke curved bench overlooking the private woodland.
In contrast, his bathroom features Noir St-Laurent marble paired with Porcini Emperador accents, complemented by bronze hardware and our Art Deco-inspired Edington Wall Lights.
The gentleman’s dressing room features bespoke beechwood joinery, khaki leather-lined interiors and solid bronze hardware, illuminated by the understated Eastley Pendant. Her dressing room is softer and more detailed, complete with generous storage and the elegant Erwin Dressing Table.
This Yorkshire Country Estate perfectly reflects our studio philosophy, combining heritage craftsmanship, refined contemporary living and deeply personal storytelling. Most importantly, it is now a joyful multigenerational family home set within an extraordinary natural landscape.
